Our story;
1976: The Ski Shop, in Framingham, Ma was founded. For the first 22 years of business we were the notorious "Dungeon Ski Shop" or "Basement Ski Shop", literally housed in the cellar of a small strip plaza at Temple St. and Route 9. For those years (however diverse the selection was) the business focused mainly on price, without much service.
1998: The present owner, Teddy Schiavoni, purchased the business and immediately changed the way things were done.
- Location; moving to a more visible, brighter (above ground) space only ˝ mile east, enabled us to enhance the ‘feeling’ of the store.
- Selection; an emphasis on staying ahead of market trends at the time when the industry was changing over from "straight skis" to "shaped skis". Also, expanding the clothing and snowboard departments.
- Knowledge = Value; a friendly, well-trained group committed to the business and the customers’ best interest. Not just some of the best skiers and riders, but some of the nicest people you might ever meet in a store or on the slopes.
- From day one, forming a sales staff committed to provide outstanding customer service was the top priority.
- Bright and spacious, the store allows ample space to dedicate to our ever growing snowboard department.
- Tall ceilings and abundance of natural light are ideal for our clothing showroom, making it easy for shoppers to mix and match colors.
- Utilizing the resources of Precision Tuning Center allows us to provide the best possible ski and snowboard service.

2001: Capital investing at its finest. At a Las Vegas trade show, Teddy went shopping to purchase all new tuning machinery for the back shop and came home with a business, too.
Mike DeSantis was, at that time, the race service director and product development manager for Volkl skis in North America. After a long and detailed discussion about the ‘state’ of ski tuning and the changing design of "shape skis", it became clear that Mike’s passion for bettering the on-snow experience for skiers and riders would be a perfect fit with The Ski Shop and so, Precision Tuning Center was created, (now SkiMD). We believe that we provide the best possible tuning in the USA! 100% money-back, guaranteed!

2003: Summit Ski and Snowboard became the name. After years of ideas and some hot debating, everyone agreed to adopt the new name and logo. Hats and shirts soon followed, the old signs changed and advertising and marketing improved.
We remain a small business, able to quickly adjust to the needs of the market, with a large commitment to customer service and value. We look back with gratitude to those who have supported us through the years and look forward to creating new, lasting relationships both in the store and on the slopes...
"See you, at The Summit!"
